What is an
Community Activator Coach?
The Community Activator Coach Standard will underpin roles like Activators, Sports Coaches, Activity Leaders, and Community Workers. These professionals are primarily employed in the sport and physical activity sector, working with inactive groups. They promote, deliver, and coach inclusive activities that encourage healthier lifestyles. Community Activator Coaches understand their communities and customers, possessing specialized knowledge to work effectively with various inactive groups. They also know how to improve communities through physical activity, play, and sport. As positive role models, they build rapport with customers, especially those from marginalized communities. This role often involves collaboration with youth workers, police, health workers, and other agencies to create safer and healthier communities.

Entry Requirements
Employers will have their own specific entry requirements but could include the following:
• Level 2 Award in Functional Skills English or equivalent
• Level 2 Award in Functional Skills Mathematics or equivalent
• 18 years or above or at the employer’s discretion due to the nature of the work

Practical Test: session template and questions & observation and questions

Grading Criteria
Fail Criteria: Apprentices who demonstrate any of the fail criteria will fail the practical test and/or professional discussion.
Pass Criteria: The apprentice must demonstrate all of the pass criteria.
Distinction Criteria: The apprentice must display all of the pass criteria and all of the distinction criteria.
Progression Routes
Successful completers will be able to move into leadership or management roles within the Sector which may be aligned to an Apprenticeship at higher level. This progression will involve leading teams of people; acting as a mentor for staff; or specialising with the delivery of sporting and physical activity programmes to certain populations or communities.
